Thankfulness

... giving thanks always for all things to God in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
                                                                                                          Ephesians 5:20 NKJ

This has been a weekend of thankfulness. I am thankful to live in a country that allows me to practice my religion freely, to talk openly about being a Christian. I am thankful to all our service men and women who daily risk their lives to make my home feel safe.

What a wonderful weekend filled with family and fun. A rather nice way to kick off the summer. I have taken on the wonderful task of leading a women's Bible study and prayer group on Wednesday mornings at my church. I ask all of my friends to please pray for our group. Our goal is to lift each other up and create strong prayer warriors for our homes and our church. At times we seem to be "stuck in a rut". It's time to really reach out to God and truly seek Him and His direction for our church.  I thank you all in advance for your thoughts and prayers.

I am so thankful for my church, my sisters in the Lord, my family, my freedom. My middle son ( I have 5 children) just turned 22 yesterday. My how time flies. I am a very blessed momma, he chooses to be in church even though he is "grown". He plays guitar in our praise band. Speaking of our praise band, my youngest son, Alex plays the drums and my husband, Paul plays bass and sings! I am more than blessed when I sit in my pew and look up and see half of my family leading worship! I could not ask for more.

Take time daily to count your blessings and be thankful to the One who gave them to you.

Peace and Blessings.

Being Content

I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  Philippians 4:12-13  NKJ

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19 NKJ

Learning to be content. Sometimes this seems like an out of reach thought. The world presses in and makes you think to be happy you need "things" to fulfill that empty space. I have learned through the years that new "stuff" is nice and may make you happy for the moment, but in the long run you are still left feeling empty.

I have found what makes me content is quiet time with God. Just having a conversation with the one that saved me from myself, from the world. When I take time to just sit and listen and wait for His leading. I have found that I appreciate more the things that I have been blessed with when I spend time with Him. I had the honor of spending time with my awesome family yesterday. Just being able to be together is such a gift. Celebrating a new addition to our family, a gift from God.

Lately I feel quite content living in the home I grew up in and playing the role of "Donna Reed". Something as simple as cooking a favorite meal and baking up some "lovin' from the oven" makes me feel such joy. I hope and pray that my children will enjoy this some day too and feel content as well. A great family, great friends and great fellowship with the Lord is what it is all about. Enjoy what God has blessed you with and be content in His Spirit.

Peace and Blessings

The Little things

It's rainy and cloudy here in Southeast Michigan today. The perfect weather to make homemade soup, Italian wedding soup to be exact. My youngest son Alex loves this soup. I just made about 200 mini meatballs! This is a time consuming task, but so worth the end product. Not to mention how much joy it brings me when dinner is served and everyone is full and happy. It amazes me how the little things can bring such joy to me and my family. Have a wonderful day and enjoy the little things!

Peace and Blessings

Italian Wedding Soup

Just a quick disclaimer, all measurements are aproximate. If you are Italian or know someone who is, besides talking with our hands, we just throw the ingredients in the pot, no measuring. Some how it always turns out!

Meatballs

1 lb. ea. sweet italian sausage and ground turkey
about a hanful of mixed italian spices (basil, rosemary, oregano, garlic)
3/4 cup parmesan romano blend
salt and fresh ground pepper
1 1/2 tsp. sage
1 whole egg

Mix all ingredients well. Form into mini meatballs. Lightly brown in olive oil but do not cook all the way. Set aside.

Soup

1 1/2 cups ea. cubed carrot, celery and onion
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
20 oz. roughly chopped spinach, fresh or frozen
small bunch roughly copped kale
14 cups of chicken stock
additional italian spices as desired
Acini di pepe pasta

Lightly saute carrot, onion, celery and garlic. Add broth and bring to low boil. Add spinach, kale and meatballs. Slow boil for about 30-35 min. to ensure meatballs are cooked through. Now add Acini di pepe pasta. Lower heat to simmer. The longer the simmer, the better the taste.
